Dermatofibromasare common benign cutaneous growthsthat occur most often on the extremities. They usually form after injury to the skin, such as after a bug bite or shaving bump.
Symptoms & Appearance
Dermatofibromas are usually asymptomatic, however can be painful or itchy in some patients. They can vary in color and size but usually firm and display the classic “dimple sign” when squeezed.
Removal of Dermatofibromas
Removal isn’t usually recommended unless symptomatic because they can reoccur. Some peoplechoose to risk reoccurrence and have them removed anyway for cosmetic reasons.
